2012 -Time to Renew with Social Media

December 25, 2011

Happy New Year!  Here we are with 2012 just a week away.  Time just goes by so fast!  Happy New Year!  My calendar just seems to be on Steroids and my life! Do you relate?

With another year upon us we have so much to be thankful for yet our economy is not looking to well these days.  More than ever one needs to market their business as competition is stiff out there.  People are expecting to pay less while still getting more.

It is a great time to renew your Social Media business plan for the upcoming year and take a look back on this previous year in business.

About Social Media:

Social Media – The Next Best Thing to Being There in Person

While meeting with your clients and prospects in person is always the best way to build relationships, you might also consider Social Media.  Facebook is a wonderful place to get to know your clients and engage with your audience.

It has created an opportunity for anyone, anywhere, to have a voice.  Getting a message out no longer depends on how large a marketing budget is; in fact, it’s forced many companies to be creative; many have even hired social media consultants like myself to manage their social media campaigns. The good news is that anyone can learn how to benefit from social media.

You can Blog, Tweet, Facebook or create videos to draw in your targeted audience. What ever you do, you MUST jump on the social media wagon because Internet marketing has never been more necessary for small businesses that want and need an online audience.

Announce new products, post coupons, get to know your clients and their needs.  Don’t just sell them, get to know them!

Happy New Year!

The Value of Social Media

August 23, 2011

Making sure your business has an online presence in the virtual world is an important part of any successful  marketing plan. With that said, it’s easy to get over whelmed with social media. Responding to comments on your Facebook page you can make you start to feel  like you’re spending a lot of valuable time and resources keeping up an online  presence that isn’t necessarily turning into dollars.

Or is it working?

I  like to think of social media as a networking tool, a way to connect with many people at once. I know, that sounds  rather obvious but if you take a look you’ll see a lot of online businesses  aren’t utilizing it the way they should. Effective marketing and networking leads to  sales and traffic to your website, especially in the business to Business market. Social media is a fantastic sales tool, particularly Facebook, you just have to change the way you approach networking and sales and take it seriously!

Facebook in particular is  about listening. It’s about conversations. It’s about building a  relationship with your customer/consumer.  It is easy to do and you can spend as little as 10 minutes each day building up your brand and relation-shipping with your audience.

Not only does social media provide a great way to target your customer base, but these sites also provide businesses with a great way to build hype around a product or service.

If you’re not sure how to start a business page, hire someone!  If you do not quite understand Social Media, take some classes.  And get yourself a Facebook page!  Add friends and family, learn about it, then start your business page.

Best advice: Be yourself,  Show  your personality, have some fun with it. In social media it’s as much  about listening as it is about getting your message out there.

Traffic

This is one of the more obvious ways of measuring social media. Remember that quality often beats quantity, though not always.  Facebook provides a traffic report instantly that every business page has access to.  It is called Insights.

PIKE’S LAW # ONE: WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES EVERY DAY

June 18, 2011

Recently, I received an email asking me why everyone can’t DO Pike’s Law # 1 and be successful.  “WILLING to do whatever it takes every day”. This individual said they put this law into effect and although they had positive results why aren’t they where they want to be.  Another person asked me why they are not successful–they said they follow Zig’s advice and 1. read the right books 2. listen to the right tapes and 3. associate with the right people.

Here is a good question—why are the book stores full of the right books and people with the wrong results?

ANSWER TO THIS MYSTERY:  WE ARE NOT WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES EVERY DAY.  If we were we would have what we want.  Here is how this all works.

WILLING is an attitude not an action. We have heard our mind is like an umbrella–they both have to be open to work.  Let’s say we are in sales.  We have been told we have to have the following every day:  50 prospect calls/5 presentations/1 sale.  IF we do this we will be successful.  I agree but here is how the principle stops working.  I have known some of those “born salesmen” who can make 20 calls a day to get their 5 appointments so they SAY to their mind THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO MAKE 50 CALLS EVERY DAY and the mind says OK—I agree—you are not WILLING to do whatever it takes every day.  This is why those “born salesman’ are out produced by “average” salesmen who are WILLING to do whatever it takes every day.

Not good at theory so I have to tell “the hoov” story again.  When he came to me he was killing himself working 24/7 for TGIF. He also had zero sales experience and did not THINK BIG.  Well, I saw a light with in Gordan that told me “here is a person who can go to the top IF they will get on the right track, IF they are WILLING to do whatever it takes every day.  Plan number one:

1. 50 COLD CALLS every day.  Those referrals or whatever did not count—I am talking door to door, floor to floor, and

store to store.  He WAS WILLING to do whatever it took.

2. The only sales training at that point was—”Gordon, no matter what they say to you your answer is THAT’S WHY I’M

CALLING.  His look was priceless like who is this nut.  BUTT–HE WAS WILLING TO DO…….

3. He came to me after a couple weeks and said “Bill, this isn’t working.  I am making 50 calls every day but I am not signing

up anyone”.  So the old sales manager told Gordon, “Oh, you want to sign some people up”.  We then went into my office

and invested a solid 3 hours in closing sales.  I gave him the book THE SECRET OF CLOSING SALES

and told him he had to give me a report.  Was he willing?  Well, today he makes per month what he made per year at

TGIF.

4. When sales started—he still had to make 50 cold calls every day.  99.9% of sales people at this point would not make the

cold calls because the sales they are getting “makes them feel good”.  Then they join the unemployment line—those sales

people who are out of prospects every Monday morning because they spent all their time giving presentations.

When you tell your mind you are not willing to do something—it believes you, it won’t argue with you, it will accept whatever you give it. I told Gordon or “the hoov” as he is known that if he was not willing to do whatever it takes every day to save himself time and become a front man for an oil company—pumping gas at a gas station.  Your mind is un bee leaf a bull–a little Pikeology is starting to come back–unbelievably.

WILLING to do whatever it takes every day is Pike’s Law # one—not willing to do whatever it takes every day is part two of Pike’s Law. I will close this with what I have used when Columbus and I were making calls together.

DO YOU WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL OR DO YOU WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT?

THE DECISION IS 110% UP TO YOU.

Visual Marketing = SUCCESS!

June 2, 2011

I saw this today in the news and it made me think about how important VISUAL MARKETING is — and this was a great example.  I personally did not care for, or ever understand their pyramid method.  This replacement is perfect!  Colorful and easy for anyone to understand.  I also like the fact that this little pic has the URL to the website for more information.  I was raised with a plate of real food just like this so I am thrilled to see that they no longer push so many carbs.

Okay so back to MARKETING! We are a visual audience, that is one reason magazines, newspapers, tv and the web are full of graphics.    Visual marketing is your silent salesperson that works for you 24 hour 7 days a week.

Lets close this by comparing some Real Estate Facebook marketing.  I picked one we produced the images for, which is the Blue Pacific Realty, and the other is your typical real estate company that set up a Facebook account without using any marketing at all.  I crossed out their name as I do not want them to feel bad that I used them as an example of what visual marketing is NOT…but this is their landing page next to Blue  Pacific Realty’s landing page.

So which attracts you?  Again it is all about visual marketing.  Call me for details as it is very affordable!  We can also do graphics and logos!

War of the Mind Part 5

May 23, 2011

We are on a journey and CHANGE is what directs our success. WE all want CHANGE and CHANGING OUR THOUGHTS is how we direct our path. CHANGE takes courage. Why? It leads us to uncharted waters. I have seen those considered down and out in Beverly Hills go to the top because they got rid of their stinkin thinkin.

When one realizes that all CHANGE is in reality EXCHANGE, life takes on excitement. I know that I know in my life that CHANGE was an EXCHANGE of one thing for something else BUT—BUT—BUT—looking back it was always for the better. It was dramatic at the time but looking in the mirror of life I see how CHANGE makes us grow.

One more “story” and this one is personal, but it shows how CHANGE is actually EXCHANGE. This is to explain from a personal point of view about CHANGING our minds and CHANGING us—a detour so to speak on this training. This is a repeat “story” but the point is—whatever is happening to you or for you or around you—CHANGE and EXCHANGE will come into your house no matter if you want it or not. It is what you DO that determines if you get what you want.
